Terms

Root Jaap is a counter for mantra repetition, free to use for personal practice.

Your practice is yours

Everything you record belongs to you and stays on your device. We claim no rights over it and could not use it for anything if we wanted to — we never receive it. Export or delete it whenever you like.

What we ask

Do not attack the service, scrape it, or resell access to it. That is the whole list.

Keep your own backup

Browsers delete stored data. Safari clears storage for sites left unopened for a week, and clearing browsing data removes it too. Adding Root Jaap to your home screen helps considerably, but nothing removes the risk entirely.

Settings offers a backup holding everything, and a spreadsheet holding the counts. Both can be brought back. Restoring merges — where a day exists in both, the higher count is kept, so an older file can never reduce what you have recorded.

No promises we cannot keep

The service is provided as it is, without warranty. Because your practice lives on your device and never reaches us, we cannot recover it for you if your browser clears it — which is why the backup exists and why we suggest using it.

If Root Jaap is ever shut down, at least 60 days’ notice will be given and the export will keep working throughout.

Buying a chai

Contributing is voluntary and is a gift, not a purchase — it buys no feature, no account, no priority and no promise that the app keeps running. Payment is handled by Buy Me A Chai under their terms, by UPI, and we neither process nor hold your payment details.

Changes

If these terms change in a way that matters, it will be said in the app before the change applies.

Governing law

Root Jaap is published from Chandigarh, India, by an individual resident in India. These terms, and any dispute arising from them, are governed by the laws of India, and the courts at Chandigarh have exclusive jurisdiction. Nothing here removes any right you have under the mandatory consumer law of the country you live in — if you are in India, your rights under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 are unaffected.
